Ryan Planes

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Ryan, who left us on April 27, 2026, at the age of 39.

Ryan was a cherished son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, partner, and cousin who brought light and love into the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humour, strength, and generosity, and for the way he made others feel valued and loved.

Ryan found peace and solitude on the water as a commercial fisherman, and in the wilderness he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Ryan is survived by his loving parents, Gordon and Marcella, and Debbie and Danny; his brother Trevor (Whitney); his very special nephews, Kash and Beau; his brother Trevor (Carla); his nephews Dakota and Colton; his step siblings Tara, Mike and Krissy; his partner, Tara; and his second set of parents, John and Mel. He also had a large circle of cousins who were all very special to him, too many to name, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on May 6, 2026, at 10:00 am at 2154 Lazzar Rd, Sooke, BC, where family and friends are invited to come together to honour and remember him.
